What Time is Best for a Session?
A happy, fed and well-rested child is the most essential ingredient for a successful photo session. If you are scheduling a studio session, there are no limitations due to lighting, so please book whatever time that works best for you. Portraits taken outdoors are best scheduled in the early morning just as the sun is rising or in the late afternoon/early evening as the sun is setting. These are times when the light is the most flattering. Typically, the mid-day sun produces too many shadows, but if there is sufficient shade, our session can be at any time of day. Scheduling your session when everyone is at their best is preferred, even if it means lighting conditions are less than ideal … I’ll make it work!
What Should I Wear?
Simple clothing in solid, neutral colors (including white and cream) are ideal for creating classic, timeless portraits. Bare skin is a timeless look for newborns and babies. On the other hand, layered clothing, bright colors and large, bold patterns and accessories such as hats and scarves, are fun for contemporary-style portraiture. Whatever you choose, textures often photograph beautifully..
What should I have on hand for the shoot?
For the little ones, incorporating their favorite toys, treasured blankets, stuffed animals, and/or special family keepsakes is always welcome and encouraged! Hobby items, musical instruments and a few of your child’s “favorite things” also make for special images. My goal is to capture the true essence of your child and create lasting treasures while capturing a moment in time. Feel free to bring some of your child’s favorite music to create a fun mood. If you have a baby or toddler, please also bring a toy that is bright or makes noise that can be used to draw their attention. For outdoor sessions, you may also wish to have a blanket on hand for sitting shots. Don’t forget to bring the appropriate footwear!
What Can I Expect After my Session?
Your images will be edited, color corrected and ready to view in an online gallery approximately 1-2 weeks after your session, depending on seasonal demand. I am always excited to share your images with you, and do my best to expedite this process! Feel free to share your gallery with family and friends. Once you select your images, I will edit and final touch up each image personally before delivering your high-resolution images to you via dropbox.
Do You Offer Custom Packages?
Yes! Photography is uniquely personal and every family is different. I strive to capture images that you treasure and document moments that are special to you. I am happy to work with you to create a unique series of sessions that tell your story and suit your preferences best. I offer the option to purchase “all” digital images from your session as well. Ultimately, I want my images to warm your heart and make you smile every time you look at them. Please feel free to reach out to me
Do You Offer Specials or Mini Sessions?
Yes! Occasionally, I will offer a discounted seasonal special on a session or “mini” sessions. A “special” often includes everything I would offer in a standard session, for a discounted price. A “mini” session is often a shorter session offered for certain holidays and with themed props and backgrounds, available at discounted price. “Mini” sessions are offered on particular dates and times, so availability is limited. For seasonal specials or mini sessions, I offer discounted rates for additional prints as well. For all sessions, particularly mini sessions, your session time is allotted just for you, so please arrive no later than your scheduled time.
