Hello, I’m Julia.
I am a portrait photographer based in San Jose and covering the San Francisco Bay Area. I love photographing people and capturing their essence. It has been a rewarding experience for me working with babies, children and families.
My style is modern, using fresh perspectives with an emphasis on light, texture, and simplicity. I’m drawn to an organic, natural style of photography, where props, clothing, or poses, should not detract from the beauty of those I photograph and the magical moments that I capture. I love to work with both the realism of color photos and the drama and classic nature of black and white, and I’m known for the clean, honest look of my images.
A truly beautiful image has the power to make you chuckle with delight, beam with pride, or move you to tears. My goal is for my images to highlight the wonder, happiness and excitement of childhood, the joys of parenthood and the comfort and love of family. My images reflect a range of emotions — an expectant couple’s nervous excitement; a new mother’s tender gaze at her newborn as she cradles him close; a toddler’s unstable first steps; a child’s giggles while being tossed up in the fresh morning air. These are the treasures that I strive to capture — images with an effortless realism that tell your unique story.
When I’m taking photos, I strive to create a relaxed and unstructured experience in every session, to allow it to evolve naturally. Life is brimming with fleeting moments of perfection, and my goal is to capture them before the moment passes. My passion is to create timeless, unfiltered images that reflect your family’s unique story, whether outdoors, in the studio, or in the comfort of your own home.
My love for photography started over 30 years ago in Switzerland, where I was born and raised. My passion for travel and the outdoors brought me to Honolulu, Hawaii, where I lived for 14 years, and now to San Jose, where I live with my amazing husband and my two incredible young boys. They bring me laughter, more love (and overwhelming exhaustion) each and every day. In my free time, you’ll find me biking with my family, camping at a nearby park, and hunting for idyllic photo locations.
I absolutely love kids as well as my job, and hope that my passion shines through in my work. My goal as a professional photographer is simple: to create an image of beauty that truly represents you and your family, to be cherished for generations to come. My greatest reward and inspiration is the joy that my images have brought my clients, and knowing that my work has captured a moment in time – and touched their lives forever.
